Elizabeth Kelson (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic) smashed the overball to the floor and like he has done so many times before, he walked over to shake the other coach's hand. He tried to ignore the PA announcement. He made sure the team knew how well he thought they played in the 3-1 (25-13, 22-25, 25-21, 25-19) win over FDU-Florham to open MAC Freedom play on Wednesday night, Sept. 8. Without anything left to say, Kelson presented him a poster celebrating a special moment, as the Sullivan County native became the 11
th coach in Middle Atlantic Conference history to win 300 career matches with the win.

The Warriors (4-2 overall, 1-0 MAC Freedom) played their best match of the young season, hitting a season-best .259 (57-20-143) while holding the Devils (2-2 overall, 0-1 MAC Freedom) to .067 (36-25-163).

Kelson led the team with a career-best 16 kills, hitting .464, to go with two blocks and first-year
Ava Coombs (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) added 11 kills. First-year
Sydney Guethlin (Cincinnati, Ohio/West Clermont) notched nine kills, hitting .533, to go with six digs and four blocks and first-year
Brynne Bisel (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) also added nine kills and 14 digs.

Sophomore
Megan Starkweather (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) paced the offense, notching 50 assists, three kills, seven digs and a block and first-year
Ali Koval (Mansfield, Pa./North Penn-Mansfield) scooped up a season-best 33 digs. First-year
Kendall Myers (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) added 15 digs, two kills and an ace.

The Warriors hit .314 in the first set and held FDU-Florham to a 36 percent sideout percentage, expanding their lead throughout the set to win 25-13. In the second set, FDU held the Warriors to a match-low .128 hitting percentage to take a 25-22 win. The third set featured seven ties and three lead changes, the last coming at 16 before a 5-2 run helped the Warriors take control, as Coombs clinched the 25-21 win with a kill. In the fourth set, the Warriors outlasted the Devils through nine ties and four lead changes before scoring the last six points of the set.

Adrienne DeFuria led the Devils with 12 kills, three aces and 14 digs and Charlotte Fruscione added eight kills and seven digs.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Sept. 11, when they head to Marywood University for a tri-match, facing Keystone at 1 p.m. and the host Pacers at 3 p.m.
