Warriors claim piece of first with 3-1 win over FDU-Florham

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A driven effort by the Lycoming College men's soccer team helped put it in a five-way tie for first place in the MAC Freedom halfway through the conference season, as Lycoming scored the first three goals in a 3-1 win over FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 16, at UPMC Field.

Sophomore Dylan Sloan (Essex, Md./Archbishop Curley) paced the Warriors (7-4-3 overall, 3-1 MAC Freedom) with two assists, giving him a team-leading five.

First-year Cam Laubach (Millville, Pa./Millville) collected his first goal of the season in the ninth minute of the game directly in front of the goal. Laubach's goal came off a cross in from midfield by Sloan.

Sophomore Joe Bamfo (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season and the second of the game unassisted in the 45th minute, right after the start of the second half, as he one-timed a shot from the right side on the top of the goal box, firing straight into the far left corner.

Sophomore Julian Elguera (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) headed in the third goal in the 57th minute in front of the right goal post off of a free kick from Sloan.

The Devils (7-6-2 overall, 1-3-1 MAC Freedom) got on the board late in the half with a goal from Oscar Trujillo.

The Warriors outshot the Devils 21-6. Sophomore goalkeeper Nick Wilke (Mercerville, N.J./Notre Dame) made three saves before senior goalkeeper Zack Donoway (Newark, Md./Snow Hill) entered to finish the game. Devils goalkeeper Tiernan Grey notched six saves.

The Warriors return to play on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 4 p.m., as they host MAC Freedom opponent Misericordia University in a battle of first-place teams at UPMC Field.
