WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior setter
Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) had a pair of double-doubles to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team on the first day of the Lycoming Invitational, beating Alfred State, 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-13) in the nightcap after falling to Hartwick, 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-11) in the opening round match on Friday, Sept. 6, at Lamade Gym.

Morris, who has double-doubles in three straight matches, notched 21 assists, 10 digs, four kills and two aces, as she helped Lycoming (4-2 overall) hit a season-best .226 in the 3-0 win over Alfred State (2-3 overall).

Senior
Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) led the Warriors in kills for the second straight match against the Pioneers, notching eight to go with seven digs, three aces and two blocks. Junior
Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) added seven kills, hitting .357, with three aces and three blocks and freshman
Elizabeth Kelson (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic) added seven kills, hitting .462, to go with two blocks in the win. Senior
Katie Hausknecht (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) added five kills and junior
Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) had four kills and 13 digs. Senior
Lindsay Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) also had a match-high 13 digs.

Isabella Slocum led the Pioneers with six kills, Jordan McCooey had 19 assists and Megan Gridley had 11 digs, but Alfred State was held to a .038 hitting percentage by a Lycoming defense that posted 53 digs and an offense that limited the Pioneers to just 35.

Lycoming held a 14-9 lead in the second set before Alfred State took a 16-15 lead. Kills from Titus and Hausknecht started a 6-1 run and the closest Alfred State could get after that was a point at 23-22, but Jednorski had a kill and Singleton closed the set with an ace.

In the final set, Alfred State was held to a negative hitting percentage while the Warriors had 11 kills.

Singleton posted seven kills and six digs to lead the Warriors in the match with Hartwick, as Morris provided a double-double for the second straight match with 22 assists and 11 digs, but Hartwick was able to post a 3-0 win.

Beck added 16 digs and both Jednorski and senior
Darci Warriner (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) each added five kills.

Hartwick hit .218 in the match while playing solid defense that limited the Warriors to just .020, although the Warriors outdug the Hawks, 46-41, in the match.

Celia Gagnon led the Hawks with nine kills and four aces and Colette Maloney added nine kills and seven digs. Katie Boak posted 12 digs and Kayley Ericson posted 25 assists.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Sept. 7, wrapping up the Lycoming Invitational by facing  Elizabethtown at 11 a.m. and Pitt-Bradford at 3 p.m.
