WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior
Liz Nace (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) pitched a complete-game shutout and freshman
Morgan Klosko (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) drove in two runs to lead the Lycoming College softball team to a 2-0 victory over Alvernia University in MAC Commonwealth action on a windy Saturday afternoon, April 27, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex. Lycoming fell in the second game, 14-2.

With the game one victory, the Warriors (20-16 overall, 6-10 MAC Commonwealth) notched 20 or more wins for the third time in four years.

Junior
Kayla Kline (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) finished the season with a .469 batting average (53-for-113), third-highest in program history, and the highest since Jeanine Evans hit a program-record .488 in 2000. Her 53 hits are second to her own program record of 61 set in 2017. Her .708 slugging percentage was the highest since Amy Long slugged .735 in 1997 and her .512 on-base percentage the best since
Amy Bauman set the school record in 1993 at .520.

Nace (9-7) tossed her third shutout of the year, surrendering just three hits and striking out three on Senior Day. The senior allowed four baserunners and retired the side in order in four innings.

The Warriors struck in the bottom of the second when Klosko ripped a single into left field to drive in junior
Darci Warriner (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area), who doubled to kick off the inning.

Klosko helped the Warriors add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth by driving in junior
Taylor Gessner (Lewisburg, Pa./Meadowbrook Christian) with a single to right field. Gessner started the inning
off with a single up the middle and junior
Kayla Kline (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) followed with a single to right center. Klosko kept the theme going with another single to right center.

Nace wrapped up her nearly flawless performance by retiring the side after an unassisted line-drive double play by senior
Lexie Kovin (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) to end the contest.

Klosko led the way offensively, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBI. Gessner and Warriner each added a hit and run scored, while Kline and Nace also singled.

Ally Decker was handed the loss, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits in 5 and 2/3 innings of work. Kealy Smith entered in the bottom of the sixth to get the final out.

Alyssa Acker finished 1-for-3 with a stolen base for the Golden Wolves (23-15-1 overall, 9-6 MAC Commonwealth).

In game two, Alvernia used a five-run second and a seven-run seventh to springboard their way to the win.

Kline drove in junior
Madison Brown (McElhattan, Pa/Central Mountain) with RBI singles in the third and the fifth to make up the Warrior runs.

Brown led the way offensively, finishing 3-for-3 with a double, walk, and two runs scored. Kline was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Nace and Klosko each added singles.

Freshman
Mikayla Aldenderfer (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) (11-9) allowed five earned runs on nine hits and struck out four in six innings of work.

Morgan Psiuk (3-for-5, double and four RBI) and Analise Fouracre (3-for-4, two runs, three RBI) led the way offensively for the Golden Wolves.

Riley Shields earned the win on the mound, throwing the complete seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out six.
