Warriors fall at Stevenson to wrap up 2019

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Despite gaining more than yards of total offense and posting three plays for more than 40 yards, the Lycoming College football team fell to second-place Stevenson University, 31-0, on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Mustang Stadium.

The Warriors (4-6 overall, 3-5 MAC) took three trips into the red zone in the first three quarters, but a pair of missed field goals and a fumble ended each drive without points. In all, the Warriors rolled up 361 yards of total offense, while Stevenson (8-2 overall, 7-1 MAC) had 343.

Junior Elijah Shemory (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) finished 19-of-36 passing for 214 yards and he rushed 12 more times for 61 yards to lead the team's rushing attack. Senior Stephen Toczylousky (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) caught five passes for 112 yards, going over 100 yards for a fourth time this year and senior Dezmen Johnson (Browns Mills, N.J./Pemberton Township) added six catches for 102 yards yards.

In the first half, the Warriors held the ball for nearly 20 minutes and racked up more than 200 yards off offense, but it was Stevenson that was the only ones who were able to score. That came with 3:21 left in the second half when Ryan Sedgwick found Chaz Lyles for a 40-yard completion.

In the third quarter, the Mustangs expanded the lead to 14 with a six-play, 80-yard drive, as Kevin Joppy rushed in from seven yards out. A fumbled snap helped end a Lycoming drive end at the six-yard line, as Isaiah Pitts scooped up the fumble at the 12 and took it 78 yards before handing to Isaac Boyd for the score, making it 21-0.

The Mustangs added a 25-yard field goal by Brody Campbell with 10:10 remaining and Chaz Lyles scored on a 17-yard reception with 3:25 left.

Ryan Sedgwick finished 10-of-22 for the Mustangs, scoring two touchdowns and Kevin Joppy had 14 rushes for 78 yards and score. Lyles finished with seven catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns.
