WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Seniors
Rachael Shady (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) and
Ashley Schoenstadt (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) each recorded their 121
st career hits, third most in program history, but the Lycoming College softball team dropped both games of a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader, 4-0, and 3-1, on Saturday afternoon, April 28, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Senior Day.

Shady and Schoenstadt are just the third and fourth players in program history to record at least 120 hits. Each is just three hits away from tying Amy Cline (2010-13) for second. Schoenstadt recorded a hit in each game and Shady, after pitching seven strong innings in the opener, added a hit in the second game. Fellow senior
Samantha Fischer (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) recorded a single in the first game and went 2-for-3 in the nightcap, scoring the Warriors' (12-24 overall, 2-14 MAC Commonwealth) lone run with an RBI single in the second inning.

After giving up two, two-run singles in the second inning of the opener, Shady retired 15 of the next 18 batters she faced and only allowed one baserunner to reach second base in her final home start.

With four hits entering the bottom of the seventh inning, sophomore
Darci Warriner (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area)  led off with a single. She advanced to second on a wild pitch and junior
Cayla Treaster (Williamsport, Pa./Montoursville Area) earned a full-count walk with Warriner advancing to third on a passed ball. Junior
Rachel Duda (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) watched four straight pitches for a walk to load the bases, but a liner to third base and a double play ended the game.

Brooke Steinbach led Stevenson at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Haley Lennon went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Morghan Fulton allowed five hits in the complete game shutout.

Stevenson jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning of the second game, off a solo home run from Steinbach. Much like Shady, junior
Liz Nace (Pennridge, Pa./Perkasie) settled in after that. She retired the next 11 batters and only allowed one baserunner to each second bases before extra innings. The junior righty allowed six hits and walked just one in eight innings.

The Warriors tied the game in the bottom of the second when Schoenstadt singled through the left side on the first pitch, Warriner doubled to deep left center and Fisher brought Schoenstadt home on a hard hit single to third base.

Warriner led off the seventh with a single before a double play ended the threat and Fischer also followed with a single but was stranded.

The Mustangs started the eighth inning with three straight singles, none of which left the infield, and scored two runs on a fielder's choice and a groundout.

Freshman
Taylor Gessner (Lewisburg, Pa./Meadowbrook Christian) led off the bottom of the eighth with a single but another double play helped quell the threat. Sophomore
Madison Brown (McElhattan, Pa./Central Mountain) hit a two-out single but was stranded on a groundout.

Warriner went 2-for-3 with a double and a run for Lycoming while Fischer went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Gessner extended her hit streak to eight games with a 1-for-4 effort.

Haley Monaham allowed eight hits in eight innings of work for the win.

The Warriors wrap up the 2018 season when they head to Misericordia University for a 1 p.m. non-conference doubleheader on Sunday, April 29.
