UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Lycoming College men's soccer team's postseason run ended with a 1-0 defeat against Penn State Behrend in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship on Saturday night, Nov. 10, at John Carroll University's Don Shula Stadium.

The Warriors (15-4-2 overall) earned the first NCAA Championship at-large bid in school history, as their 15-win season was tied for fourth in program history. The NCAA Championship appearance marks the fourth in the six years under head coach
Nate Gibboney, as the team has compiled an 87-26-15 record in that time.

The 2018 team set a program record for the longest winning streak in school history (10) and finished tied for fourth with 10 shutouts.

The Lions (15-3-2 overall) scored the game's only goal in the third minute when Richard Bianchard headed a lead pass to Logan Brinsky, who was able to dribble fast two defenders and connect on a bender to the bottom left corner of the goal.

The Warriors had their first opportunity in the 18
th minute, receiving back-to-back shots on goal from senior
Sainclair Tueno (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) and junior

With time winding down, the Warriors had another scoring opportunity in the 83
rd minute, when sophomore
Alex Henry (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) found a wide open sophomore
Jared Moses (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh School) near the top of the box, who fired a shot that was saved by the keeper.

Senior
Chris Solecki (Hainesport, N.J./Lenape) finished the game with two saves, including a full extension diving save in the 44
th minute to keep the Warrior deficit at 1-0. Solecki finished his career first in goals against average (0.66), fourth in save percentage (.843) and second in wins (36) in Lycoming history.

Penn State Behrend advances to the second round of the NCAA Championship and will face tournament-host John Carroll University on Sunday night, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m.
