WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – With a bevy of career highs, including 20 kills from sophomore
Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) and 60 assists from junior
Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North), the Lycoming College volleyball team took King's College the distance and then some, but fell 3-2 (23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 18-25, 16-14) in non-conference action at Lamade Gym on Tuesday night, Oct. 18.
Titus hit .400 to go with her 20 kills, as she became the first Warrior to down 20 attacks since Kristine Jahn posted 22 against Alvernia on Oct. 14, 2014, and she just missed a double-double with nine digs. Junior
Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added a career-best 16 kills to go with two blocks and sophomore
Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) posted a career-best 14 kills, hitting .591, to go with five blocks for the Warriors (13-16 overall).
Morris topped 60 assists for the first time in her career, becoming just the seventh Warrior to do so and the first since
Catherine Burger did so against Alvernia in 2014. She also added five kills, seven digs and two aces, as she paced a Lycoming offense that posted 77 kills and hit .247 in the match.
Junior
Katie Hausknecht (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) posted nine kills and three blocks and junior
Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) added eight kills and eight digs. Senior
Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) notched a season-high 35 digs and both junior
Lindsay Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) and freshman
Alia Post (Sayre, Pa./Sayre Area) each had seven.
King's (18-7 overall) was led by 25 kills and 11 digs from Rachel Miller, while Becca Goldberg had 13 kills and Rachel Galante had 10. Wiatt Hoffman posted 55 assists and 10 digs and Karissa Hartzell posted 22 digs and five aces.
Jednorski and Titus each had five kills in the first set, with Titus' fifth kill breaking a deadlock at 23 and helping clinch the set for the Warriors. After King's took narrow decisions in the second and third sets, the Warriors broke open the fourth set with a 8-1 run to close the set, with Jednorski scoring a solo block to secure the 25-18 win.
In the final set, the two teams fought through 12 ties before King's was able to post the last two points, with Olivia Musto grabbing the final kill.
The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday, Oct. 23, when they face Lebanon Valley College in a MAC Commonwealth matchup with their conference tournament hopes on the line. First serve at Lamade Gym is set for 7 p.m.
