Warriors top No. 13 Scranton, 3-1

SCRANTON, Pa. – Two goals from junior defender Sainclair Tueno (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) lifted the sixth-ranked Lycoming College men's soccer to a 3-1 win over 13th-ranked Scranton University at Fitzpatrick Field, Saturday afternoon, Sept. 16 in a non-conference game.

The Warriors (7-0 overall) continued their best start in program history, winning their seventh straight to start the season, while handing Scranton (5-1 overall), who is ranked sixth in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Poll and 13th in the D3Soccer.com national poll, their first loss of the season.

Tueno's first goal came at 13:27 when fellow junior defender Jake Webb (Fairless Hills, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) found him off a free kick for the 1-0 lead. Scranton tied the game at 58:39 on Michael Donnelly's goal but freshman Alex Henry (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) scored his second goal of the season in the 72nd minute, scoring after a defender deflected the ball in front of the net, giving the Warriors the lead for good. Webb and Tueno hooked up for a second time in the 81st minute on another set play off a free kick to seal the win.

Tueno's goals were his first two of the season while Webb now leads the Warriors and is tied for the conference-lead with four assists.

Lycoming outshot Scranton, who is coached by Lycoming Athletics Hall of Famer Matt Pivirotto '98, 12-6, with an 8-3 shot on goal advantage. Junior Chris Solecki (Hainesport, N.J./Lenape) made two saves for his seventh win of the season while Scranton's Blake Hammert made eight saves.

The Warriors return to the field on Wednesday, Sept. 20, when they head to Maryland to take on Frostburg State University at 6 p.m. in a non-conference game.
