Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Warriors top Shoremen at Red Devil Classic

CARLISLE, Pa – Three different players scored, including two in the second half, as the Lycoming College men's soccer team came from behind to defeat Washington College (Md.), 3-1, in the final day of the Red Devil Classic on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 10, at Dickinson College.

The Warriors (5-0) are also off to their best start since 1997 when that team also started 5-0, as the team has now posted 2-0 weekends at tournaments twice this year, sweeping the Gilmore Alumni Classic on Sept. 1-2, as well.

After falling behind 1-0 on a Michael Holowesko goal in the 18th minute, Lycoming answered with a goal from senior Jordan Logan (Oxford, Pa./Oxford), when junior Jake Webb (Fairless Hills, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) found Logan for his first assist of the season in the 31st minute. The goal was the third of Logan's season and the 27th of his career, tying him for seventh in school's record book with Courtney Walters (1985-88).

The Warriors added two more goals in the second half, the first coming from sophomore Daniel Anwanwan (Manassas, Va./Stonewell Jackson), when he scored his first goal of the season and his first game-winner off the 21st career assist from senior Abdullahi Abdi (Seattle, Wash./James Garfield) at 47:59. Nearly 10 minutes later, senior Duc Momo (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) scored his first goal of the season to give the Warriors a 3-1 advantage and Lycoming allowed just one shot after that.

Lycoming outshot Washington, 18-8, with Logan leading the Warriors with four shots, including three on goal.

Junior Chris Solecki (Hainesport, N.J./Lenape) made three saves as he earned his fifth win of the year. Gavin Campbell made eight saves for the Shoremen.

The Warriors return home to host Medaille on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 4:30 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
