Warriors clinch No. 4 seed with win at Widener

CHESTER, Pa. – Sophomore Kelly McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) scored six goals and pulled in 10 draw controls to lead the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team to a 13-7 MAC Commonwealth win over Widener University on Saturday, April 29, at Edith R. Dixon Field.
 
Junior Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) added four goals and two assists and both freshman Kayla DiJoseph (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) and senior Leanne Shaw (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) each had a goal and an assist, as Lycoming (9-6 overall, 5-3 MAC Commonwealth) used an eight-goal run to start the game to cruise to the win.
 
The Warriors will now move on to the MAC Commonwealth Championship, where they will face No. 5 seed Lebanon Valley in a first-round game at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 1, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex. Tickets for the game will be available at the gate for $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students. Children under six will be admitted free.
 
Lycoming rolled out to the win, scoring eight times in the game's opening 20 minutes, led by four from McGinniss and three from Lazarich.
 
Kelly Lynch scored three times for the Pride (4-12 overall, 1-7 MAC Commonwealth), twice in a span of 12 seconds to cut the lead to 8-3 at the break. The Warriors moved the lead to six goals twice early in the period before Widener scored to get back within five before McGinniss started a three-goal run with 23:28 to get the lead to eight goals with 7:38 left before the Pride scored two late goals.
 
Lynch scored four times for the Pride, adding six draw controls. Kristi Rohrer and Megan Racioppi each added three groundballs.
 
Senior Nicole Gerling (Millstone Township, N.J./Allentown) (9-6) stopped nine shots for the Warriors to earn the win and Grace Morales (4-12) stopped 10 for the Pride.
