Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Warriors fall at Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. – Junior Kelly McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) scored four goals and added eight draw controls to lead the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team, but Marywood University was able to hold off a late Lycoming rally and post a 12-10 non-conference win at Pacers Field on Monday afternoon, March 13.

Down 12-8 with 4:16 left, the Warriors (1-2 overall) rallied, with McGinniss scoring just 14 seconds after winning the draw control and senior goalkeeper Nicole Gerling (Millstone Township, N.J./Allentown) found junior Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) on a clear attempt and Lazarich scored to close within two points with 2:27 left. That was as close as Lycoming could get though, after Marywood (3-2 overall) took control of the game with a 5-1 run that occupied 16 minutes in the second half to take a 12-8 lead.

Senior Leanne Shaw (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) tied the game at seven off an assist from Lazarich with 27:00 left in the game, but Marywood scored the next two goals, with Gwyneth Gleason scoring off a free-position shot with 12:52 left to make it 9-7. McGinniss got the Warriors within a goal with 10:46 left off an assist from freshman Kayla DiJoseph (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township). Marywood was able to score the next three goals in a span of three minutes to make it a four-goal game before Lycoming began its rally.

The Warriors were able to take a 2-1 lead 10 minutes into the game off a score from freshman Hailey Kimble (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) before Marywood fought back and took a 4-3 lead. From there, the teams fought through two more ties before Gleason scored with 4:05 left in the first half to give Marywood a 7-6 lead at halftime.
