Warriors fall to Mustangs in double overtime

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Playing against the MAC Commonwealth Tournament's No. 3 seed, the Lycoming College women's soccer team held Stevenson University scoreless for 102 minutes, but a goal in double overtime by Stevenson helped lift it to a 1-0 win on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
 
The Warriors finish the 2016 season with a  7-9-3 overall mark and a 1-6-1 mark in the MAC Commonwealth. Junior Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) set the school record with 19 goals and 40 points during the campaign, also adding a school-record six game-winning goals in the season. The team's 34 goals were tied for eighth-most in program history.
 
Stevenson (8-6-2 overall, 5-2-1 MAC Commonwealth) fired 37 shots in the game, including 20 in the first half, but junior goalkeeper Joelle Winey (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) stood up to the task, making eight saves in the first half, five in the second and two in the first overtime.
  Finally, in the second overtime, the Mustangs scored on a crossed ball by Alexis Siejack, which Juliana Portera knocked into the left side of the net.
 
Winey finished the season with 150 saves, which is sixth-most in program history, while her 267 career stops are fifth in program annals.
 
Before the game, the Warriors honored the team's nine seniors – Kelly Ambruso (who played in a school-record 75 games), Kaylynn Gose, Nour Hasan, Shayna Iacoviello, Olivia Mendler, Leanne Shaw, Kendra Voyzey, Madison Walmer and Amanda Wisolmerski.
