Warriors compete at Dickinson Long/Short Invitational

NEWVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore James Hamm (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) led the Lycoming College cross country teams on Saturday, Sept. 26, as he dropped under 30 minutes for the second week in a row to lead the team at the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational at Big Spring High School on Saturday, Sept. 26.
 
Only individual results were available on Saturday, as Lycoming sent a contingent of 12 women's runners, with eight running in the 6K race and four in the 4K race and 12 men's runners, with seven running the 8K race and five running the 4K, to the race, which also serves as a preview for the NCAA Mideast Regionals, which will be hosted at Big Spring High School on Nov. 14.
 
Hamm finished 87th in the field of 158 runners in 29:57.16 in the 8K race and junior captain Jacob Miller (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central) was close behind, taking 94th in 30:06.66.
 
Rounding out the scoring five for the team, sophomore Sean Hastings (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) finished 122nd in 31:41.34, freshman Nick Pisani (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) took 129th in 32:07.53 and freshman Andrew Dion (Tiverton, R.I./Tiverton) took 135th in 32:28.01.
 
On the women's side, junior Sarah Donovan (Bergen, N.Y./Byron-Bergen) once again led the squad, finishing 87th in a field of 163 runners with a time of 26:42.89. Senior Lindsay Decker (Shapleigh, Maine/Massabessic) finished 90th in 26:46.09, freshman Haby Goloko (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor) took 125th in a career-best 28:24.12, sophomore Rachel Fritz (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) took 127th in 28:25.18 and sophomore Lindsay Smith (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) took 130th in 28:33.37.
 
Senior James Krizan (Montoursville, Pa./Homeschooled) led the team in the 4K men's race, finishing 170th in 15:56.23. Senior Rachel Salmon (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) led the women's finishers in the 4K race, finishing 150th in 18:26.18.
 
The Warriors get back in action on Saturday, Oct. 10, when they head to the DeSales University Invitational. The men's race will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the women's race will begin at 11:15.
