Layser tops leaderboard in King’s quad

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Junior Zach Layser (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO) led the Lycoming College golf team by topping the leaderboard with a 6-over-par 77 at Wednesday, April 22's King's College Quad Match at the par-71, 6,178-yard Wyoming Valley Country Club.

Layser tied for first on the leaderboard with Scranton's Erik Meyer, as he posted the lowest round for a Lycoming golfer since Robert Wentzel notched a 77 at the Susquehanna Spring Invitational on April 17, 2008.

The Warriors showed great improvement during the round, shooting a 359, 14 shots better than the team's previous-best round of the spring at the Dutchmen Spring Invitational.

Senior Will Dietz (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield Area) finished 12th with a season-best round of 87, freshman Jesse Treur (Zuidoostbeemster, Netherlands/DaVinci College Purmerend) fired a 91 and freshman Hailey Fricke (Denver, Pa./Garden Spot) rounded out the team's lineup with an 104.

The Warriors get back on the course on Saturday, April 25, when they start the two-day, 36-hole Commonwealth Conference Championship at the Hershey Country Club East Course, which is set to begin at 8 a.m.
