Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Warriors fall to Knights

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Meghenn Jackson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck/Anne Arundel C.C.) scored three goals to lead the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team, but a hot start helped Arcadia University post a 13-6 Commonwealth Conference win on Saturday, March 28, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

The Warriors (7-1 overall, 0-1 Commonwealth) rallied late in the game, scoring three times on free-position shots in the game's final 7:30, with junior Savannah Fox (Port Deposit, Md./Perryville) providing two of the goals and Jackson the other score. However, it was not enough to draw Lycoming back into the game, as the loss stopped a seven-game winning streak, the third-longest in program history.

The Knights (8-2 overall, 1-1 Commonwealth) started the game with six straight goals before freshman Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) found Jackson in transition for a goal high into the right netting.

Arcadia followed three more goals to take a 9-1 lead, though, before junior Kelsey Harshman (Hamilton Square, N.J./Steinert) added a free-position goal to make it 9-2 at the break.

After trading goals in the first seven minutes of the second half, Arcadia scored three times in a three-minute span to take a 13-3 lead before Lycoming finally responded in the final seven minutes.

Lycoming finished with 12 of the 21 draw controls and scooped up 20 ground balls in the game, but Arcadia held a 26-24 advantage in shots and grabbed 26 ground balls, plus turned the ball over just 15 times.

Jackson now has a hat trick in each of her first eight games with the Warriors, and she also added four ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers. Lazarich added five draw controls and senior Alysha Conley (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) caused two turnovers.

Erin Misner led the Knights with four goals, three ground balls and an assist and Haylee Molloy added three goals, three ground balls and an assist. Adeline Bellesheim notched three goals and Jessica Santoli posted two assists.

Senior Nicole Gerling (Millstone Township, N.J./Allentown) (7-1) finished with eight saves and five ground balls in net for the Warriors. Jordyn Dunacusky (7-2) made 10 saves to earn the win for the Knights, as she held the Warriors to 5-of-14 in free-position shots. She also picked up five ground balls.

The Warriors get back in action on Wednesday, April 1, when they head to Lebanon Valley for a 5:30 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest.
