Warriors fall twice at York to end season

YORK, Pa. – Freshman Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) led the Lycoming College volleyball team with 38 digs and sophomore Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) crossed 1,000-assists for the second straight year, but Lycoming fell to Salisbury University, 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-22), and York (Pa.), 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-17, 25-17) to wrap up its 2015 season on Saturday, Oct. 31.
 
The Warriors finish 17-14 overall, posting their third straight winning season under 15th-year head coach Tim McMahon.
 
Burger finished the year with 1013 assists, the 11th-most in program history, while Hepner used her 38 digs to finish the season with 519, the sixth-best total in program history.
 
Hepner led the Warriors against Salisbury with 14 digs, while Burger added 16 digs and junior Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) added three kills, four aces and 12 digs. Junior Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./New Cumberland) added four kills.
 
Against York, Fink led the Way with nine kills, two aces and five digs and junior Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) added nine kills and six digs. Freshman Cheyenne Altland (East Berlin, Pa./Delone Catholic) added seven kills and hit .353 for the team. Burger posted 26 assists and 11 digs and Hepner led the team with 24 digs in the match.
 
Fink finished the year with 60 service aces, the 10th-best total in program history. The pair of matches were the final ones in the career of senior Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York), who finished her career with seven kills in the two matches, giving her a career total of 1,260, the sixth-best mark in program history.
