WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore
Abdullahi Abdi (Seattle, Wash./James Garfield) scored three goals and added an assist to outperform the nation's top goalscorer on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 24, as the Lycoming College men's soccer team posted a 4-2 MAC Commonwealth win over Hood College at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

The Warriors stretched their unbeaten streak to a school-record 15 games as they improved to 13-1-2 overall and 6-0-1 in the MAC Commonwealth. Hood fell to 12-6 overall and 3-3 in MAC Commonwealth play.

Hood was led by the nation's top goal-scorer, as Drew Demich converted a 70
th-minute penalty kick and then completed a comeback from a 2-0 deficit in the 80
th minute by drilling a 20-yard free kick into the upper left corner for his 21
st score of the season.

The tie did not last long, as Lycoming took the kickoff and got the ball out wide to Abdi, who beat a player and then lifted the ball high into the box where sophomore
Jordan Logan (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) headed it into the left side of the net for his 13
th goals of the season.

Just two minutes later, sophomore
Kyle Thomas (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) was pulled down in the box to draw a penalty kick. Abdi converted his second penalty kick of the game to seal the 4-2 win.

Abdi scored the first goal of the game in the 10
th minute, firing a shot into the lower left corner before adding his first penalty kick in the 23
rd minute after sophomore
Mateo Valasquez (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) was fouled in the box.

With the 2-0 lead, the Warriors continued to pressure, getting a solid opportunity early in the second half when the team went on a 3-on-1 break, with junior
Jason Coles (Logan Township, N.J./Kingsway Regional) firing a shot off the crossbar that rebounded out of the goalbox.

Hood got back into the game later in the half after drawing a foul in the box in the 70
th minute, leading to the first of Demich's two goals.

Junior
Josh Gildea (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) made two saves to earn his 11
th win of the year, which is eighth in school history. Joe Centeno stopped one shot for the Blazers, as the Warriors fired 13 shots and took eight corners while holding Hood to five shots and two corners.

The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, Oct. 28, when they host No. 14 Oneonta State at the Shangraw Athletic Complex at 3:30 p.m.
