Donovan notches another top-25 finish at Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. – Sophomore Sarah Donovan (Bergen, N.Y./Byron-Bergen) notched her second top-25 finish of the 2014 season to lead the Lycoming College cross country teams at the Messiah College Cross Country Invitational on a beautiful Saturday, Sept. 27. Donovan finished 24th to lead the women's team to a sixth-place finish while the men added a seventh-place finish.
 
Donovan notched a time of 27:46.60 to edge out junior Lindsay Decker (Shapleigh, Maine/Massabesic), who finished with a time of 28:02.10 to take 27th in the field of 93 runners. Senior Kelsey Rawson (Waldorf, Md./North Point) and sophomore Victoria Wilson (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland) also added top-40 finishes, with Rawson taking 36th in 29:09.30 and Wilson 39th at 29:13.30. Freshman Sarah Toth (North Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) rounded out the scoring five, posting a time of 30:29.30 to take 48th, while junior Rachel Salmon (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) took 49th in 30:30.90 and junior Anna Summers (Shamokin, Pa./Shamokin Area) took 55th in 30:48.70 to round out the top seven.
 
Freshman James Hamm (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) nearly cracked the top 25 to lead the men's team, finishing 27th in 30:31.90 and freshman Sean Hastings (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) finished 36th in 31:24.80 in a field of 103 runners. Sophomore Jacob Miller (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central) took 45th in 31:43.50 to edge out teammate senior T.J. Guminski (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), who took 46th in 31:45.40. Rounding out the scoring five, junior Peter Rittenhouse (Green Lane, Pa./Quakertown Community) finished 66th in 33:37.90. Sophomore John Woodburn (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) finished 84th in 37:06.10 and sophomore Bryant Dietrick (Muncy, Pa./Muncy Area) took 88th in 37:47.30 to complete the team's top seven.
 
The Warriors get back in action on Saturday, Oct. 11, when they head to the DeSales University Invitational at 10:30 a.m.
