Box Score

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Two second-half goals and another outstanding defensive performance has helped the Lycoming College men's soccer team extend its season-opening shutout stretch to seven games with a 2-0 win over rival Juniata College on a beautiful Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Winton Hill Field.

The Warriors improved to 6-0-1 overall, the program's best start since an 8-0-1 start during the 1992 season, and extended their school record streaks to seven shutouts and 650 minutes.

Lycoming peppered Juniata (2-5 overall), which reached the Landmark Conference finals in 2013, with eight shots in the first half, but couldn't break through. Juniata took the first two shots in the second half, but senior Connor Keenan (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) made a save to keep it scoreless.

In the 70th minute, the Warriors headed to the bench for three players and just two minutes later, one of them found the back of the net, as senior Luke Klingler (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) scored off a give by freshman Jordan Logan (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area).

Lycoming got an insurance goal in the 88th minute, as freshman Abdullahi Abdi (Seattle, Wash./James Garfield) notched a point in his third straight game.

Keenan finished with three saves, as the Lycoming defense again played tremendously, allowing just six shots. Garrett Lavelle made five stops in the first half for the Eagles and James Johnson stopped two in the second half, as Lycoming finished with 13 shots.

The Warriors head to Geneva for a 7 p.m. contest on Saturday, Sept. 20, for the middle game in a three-game road trek.
