Layser leads Warriors at Dickinson Invitational

CARLISLE, Pa. – Sophomore Zach Layser (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO) started his collegiate golf career with a solid round of 83 to finish tied for eighth to lead the Lycoming College golf team to a fourth-place finish at the par-71, 6,389-yard course on a rainy Wednesday, March 19.
 
Two other Warriors shot in the 80s, as junior William Dietz (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield Area) fired an 87 to take 14th and senior Zack Czap (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) shot an 89 to finish 16th. Rounding out the scoring foursome, junior John Koch (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) shot a 103, giving the team a round of 362, its lowest score since shooting a 361 at the Elizabethtown Spring Blue Jay Classic on April 4, 2013.  
 
It was the first time three Warriors finished with scores in the 80s since Jed Simpson (83), Jordan Hollander (89) and Robert Jumper (89) did it at the Susquehanna Spring Invitational on April 15, 2010.
 
Senior Ryan Davis (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) finished with a 104 to round out Lycoming's lineup.
 
The Warriors get back on the course when they head to the Blue Jay Classic at the Hershey Country Club East Course on Thursday, April 3 at 12 p.m.
