Warriors wrap up season in Commonwealth semifinals

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Sophomores Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) each posted seven kills to lead the No. 4 seed Lycoming College volleyball team, but top-seeded Stevenson University hit .312 to post a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-14) win in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament semifinals at the Owings Mills Gym on Wednesday night, Nov. 5.
 
The Warriors finish the season at 18-17 overall, as the team advanced to the Commonwealth Conference Tournament for the fourth straight season and enjoyed its third straight winning season under 14th-year head coach Tim McMahon.
 
The Mustangs (28-5 overall) move on to the Commonwealth Conference championship match for the third straight year, where they will face Messiah, 3-0 winners over Lebanon Valley in the other conference final. The match is set for Saturday, Nov. 8.
 
Jahn hit .312, as she posted her seven kills to finish the year with a team-high 330 kills. Fink posted seven kills and nine digs.
 
Sophomore Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) posted three kills and 10 digs and freshman Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) posted 21 assists and eight digs. Junior Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) notched three kills and two blocks and sophomore Haley Deibert (Sacramento, Pa./Tri-Valley) added six digs, as the Warriors finished with a 45-36 advantage in that category.
 
Annika Schwartz led the Mustangs with 13 kills, six digs, four aces and three blocks and both Megan Miller and Lauren Weaver added six kills. Libero Samantha Perillo posted six aces and 15 digs and setter Sara Bollinger posted 29 assists.
 
The Warriors finished with their fingerprints all over the school's record book, as Fink's 63 service aces this year are eighth in school history and Burger's 1,224 assists are fourth. Senior Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio/Avon), who notched four digs in her final game as a Warrior, finished her career second in school history with 1,601 digs and sixth with 188 service aces.
