Warriors run well at MAC Championships

LEBANON, Pa.- Three Lycoming College men's cross country runners notched times under the 30-minute mark and sophomore Sarah Donovan (Bergen, N.Y./Byron-Bergen) and  junior Lindsay Decker (Shapleigh, Maine/Massabesic) each finished in the top half of the women's 141-runner field to lead the women's team on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at Union Canal Tunnel Park.
 
The men's team placed ninth out of 13 teams, the highest at the meet since the 2007 team finished ninth in a 10-team field. The women's team finished 11th in a field of 13 teams while 
 
Freshman Sean Hastings (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) led the men's team as he placed 66th in a field of 135 runners with a time of 28:57.42. Senior T.J. Guminski (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) posted a career-best 29:18.83 to take 72nd and just edge out freshman James Hamm (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run), who finished in 29:19.18. Sophomore Jacob Miller (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central) (30:08.18) and freshman Joseph Ingrum (Lodi, Calif./Lodi) (a career-best 30:12.92) rounded out the five runners who finished in the top 100 as Miller took 93rd and Ingrum 95th
 
Two other runners finished with career best times on the men's side as sophomore Bryant Dietrick (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) (32:10.84), and sophomore Donald Keys (Erie, Pa. / Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy) (32:43.14) each set career-bests. 
 
Sophomore Dan Yoder (Montoursville, Pa./Homeschooled) placed 117th with a time of 32:46.61. Junior Jacob McClain (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore) (34:40.14), freshman Alexander Wherthey (Johnstown, Pa./Bishop McCort) (35:32.44), freshman Trenton Jones (Houston, Texas/KIPP Sunnyside) (37:47.91) and sophomore Josh Cram (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) (37:53.78) finished 124th, 130th, 133rd and 134th, respectively.
 
Donovan finished with a time of 25:49.93, taking 56th on the 6K course after finishing 69th as a freshman. Decker took 68th with a time of 26:13.55.
 
Sophomore Victoria Wilson (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland) placed 83rd with a season-best time of 26:57.59 and senior Kelsey Rawson (Waldorf, Md./North Point) finished 94th with a time of 27:29.35. Rounding out the top five, freshman Lindsay Smith (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) finished 97th with a career-best time of 27:45.70.
 
Freshman Sarah Toth (North Granby, Conn. / Granby Memorial) finished with a new career-best of 28:08.55, good enough for 102nd place and junior Anna Summers (Shamokin, Pa./Shamokin Area) took 105th with a season-best time of 28:16.85.
 
Junior Rachel Salmon (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) ran a 28:51.25, good for the 113th spot.  Sophomore Jacqueline Croteau (Islip, N.Y./Islip) (30:09.61), senior Samantha Stropko (Sayre, Pa./Athens) (30:30.60) and junior Erin Hale (Oakfield, N.Y./Oakfield-Alabama) (30:45.63) placed at 130, 131 and 132, respectively. Freshman Rachel Fritz (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) took 134th with a time 31:06.11. 
 
The Warriors get back on the course on Saturday, Nov. 15, when they head to Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa., for the NCAA Mideast Regionals. The women's race will be at 11 a.m. before the men take off at 12 p.m.
