ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – A valiant comeback came up just short in the first of two matches for the Lycoming College volleyball team on Saturday, Nov. 1, as the team dropped a 3-2 (25-17, 27-25, 21-25, 25-27, 17-15) decision to Elizabethtown College before falling 3-1 (27-29, 25-21, 25-21, 25-19) to Wilkes in the nightcap of a non-conference tri-match at Thompson Gymnasium.
 
The Warriors (17-16 overall) will get back on the court Monday, Nov. 3, when it plays in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament semifinal against No. 5 seed Widener. First serve at Lamade Gym is set for 7 p.m.  Admission to the game is set for $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for students and children under six-years-old are free. Long-sleeved championship t-shirts will also be on sale at the gate for $15.
 
Against Elizabethtown, the Warriors took a 7-3 lead early in the fifth set and served for the match once, but the Blue Jays (12-19 overall) came back with three straight points to narrowly post the 17-15 fifth set win to stave off a Warrior comeback from two sets down.
 
Junior 
Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) led the Warriors with 19 kills and four blocks and sophomore 
Tayler Whitman (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) added 14 kills, 16 digs and three blocks.
 
Sophomore 
Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) notched nine kills and 17 digs and sophomore 
Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) added eight kills and 16 digs. Freshman 
Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) notched 52 assists, two aces, nine digs and two blocks and senior 
Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio/Avon) posted 11 digs.
 
Kelci Scannapieco led the Blue Jays with 21 kills and four blocks and Taylor Beck notched 11 kills, six digs and two blocks. Jen Cook posted a match-high 25 digs and Steph High posted 27 assists and 13 digs. Brynne Kirsch added 22 digs and 10 digs, Samantha Hicks posted five blocks and Megan McNaul notched five aces.
 
Against Wilkes, sophomore 
Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led the Warriors with 14 kills and seven digs and Whitman notched her second double-double of the day with 11 kills and 19 digs.
 
Slawson notched nine kills, 17 digs and two blocks and Richardson added eight kills and three blocks. Burger posted 44 assists and 15 digs, finishing the regular season sixth in school history with 1,162 assists. Whitehead added eight digs to move within nine of 1,600 in her career.
 
Four Colonels (13-16 overall) finished in double figure kills, led by 12 from Danica Benson, who also added three aces and four blocks. Marrissa Mallory added 11 kills and 21 digs and Ally Paskas notched 11 kills, 12 digs and two blocks. Ellen Mook added 10 kills and Megan Powere notched 51 assists and 17 digs.
