WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Senior
Greg Wetzel (Arlington, N.Y./Pleasant Valley) posted two major decisions to lead a group of four Lycoming College wrestlers that swept their two matches at the Pa./N.Y. Duals on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 4, leading the team to a 23-12 win over SUNY Oswego and 29-9 win over RIT at Scandlon Gymnasium on the campus of King's College.

Both the 184-pound Wetzel and junior 141-pounder
Caleb Willey (Towanda, Pa./Towanda Area), with the pair of wins Saturday, won their 50
th career matches, as Wetzel improved to 17-6 on the season and 51-58 in his career. Willey improved to 15-8 on the season and 50-41 in his career.

In addition, sophomore 125-pounder
Jake Witmer (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) and junior 157/165 pounder
Brian Watkins (Bear Gap, Pa./Southern Columbia) each picked up a pair of wins.

Against Oswego, the Warriors (4-4 overall) jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back, picking up bonus points at three weight classes while Oswego was able to take four matches, but no bonus points.

Witmer led the Warriors off with a 2-0 win over Kevin Ramkishun in the first dual meet of his career and senior
Zack Finn (East Rochester, N.Y./East Rochester) added a 6-1 win over Quamaine Thomas at 133 pounds and Willey earned a major decision with a 15-7 win over Tomas Garcia. After an overtime loss at 149, Watkins picked up a win by forfeit to make it 16-3.

The Lakers (1-3 overall) won three of the last five bouts, but it was too little, too late, as sophomore
Matt Neff (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) picked up an 11-5 decision over Christopher Farrell at 174 and Wetzel notched an 8-0 major decision  over Joseph Gorsuch while wrestling up a weight class at 197 pounds.

Wins in the final five of six bouts, including bonus point victories at the last three weights helped the Warriors rout RIT (2-3 overall), 29-9, the largest victory for the Warriors over the Rochester school since a 55-0 win in 2010.

With the score 13-9 after the 174-pound bout, Wetzel kicked off the Warriors furious finish with a 9-0 win over RIT's Chris Ferri at 184 pounds. Freshman
Skylar Ebner (Muncy, Pa./Muncy Area) won his first career dual meet by pinning Wyat Albanese in 2:10 at 197 and junior
Nikolas Christine (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) wrapped up the win by taking a 15-2 lead before pinning Eddie McBride at the 6:31 mark at heavyweight.

Witmer gave the Warriors a 4-0 lead after a 9-1 lead over Andrew Flanagan at 125 pounds and the Warriors never lost the lead. Willey posted a 9-7 win over Jake Sepor at 141 pounds. With the score 7-6 after the 149-pound match, freshman
Nolan Barger (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield Area) posted a 5-1 win over Wonsik Kim and Watkins added a 5-0 win over Nick Fisk to make it 13-6 after the 165-pound match.

The Warriors get back on the mat on Friday, Jan. 10 when they kick off the 26
th annual Budd Whitehill National Duals at Lamade Gym. The first round of the 20-team, two-day affair is set for 9 a.m.
