Warriors fall to No. 7 Cougars

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman Leanne Shaw (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) scored her first career goal, but the Lycoming College women's soccer team fell to seventh-ranked Misericordia, 8-1, on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 18, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
 
Shaw's goal came on a beautiful shot from 25 yards out on the right side, as she lifted it through the goal box and into the right corner in the 82nd minute.
 
Misericordia (6-0 overall), which gave up just its second goal of the season in the game, scored six first half goals, with Erin McGreal, Megan Lannigan and Alyssa Mocion each scoring twice. Mocion also added three assists and Jackie Wheatley also added two helpers.
 
Lycoming's senior keeper Caitlin Dougherty (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) became the fifth player in school history to reach 150 career stops with her third of nine in the game. Maureen Ciccosanti played the first half for the Cougars and Kelly Mott played the second.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, Sept. 21, when they host Juniata at 1 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
