Box Score

MILLVILLE, Pa. – A first-half goal by Jake Hower was enough to stand up for No. 9 York (Pa.), as the Lycoming College men's soccer team fell, 1-0, in the season opener on Friday night, Aug. 30.

The Warriors (0-1 overall) posted 10 shots on goal in the contest, including three each from senior Connor McNiff (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) and junior Luke Klingler (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg), but the Spartans (1-0 overall) were able to stop several solid advances.

Antal Petrik headed the game-winning ball across the goal box in the 17th minute, where Hower deposited it into the left corner of the net.

Junior Connor Keenan (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) made nine stops for the Warriors in net while the York keeper, Brad Schmidt, made four in the shutout.

The Warriors get back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 3, when they host Susquehanna in the Battle of the Boot at 5 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
