Warriors finish ninth at MAC Championships

HERSHEY, Pa. – Sophomores Nic McGee (Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) and John Koch (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) led the Lycoming College golf team on day two of the 36-hole Commonwealth Conference Golf Championship at the par-71, 7,061-yard Hershey Country Club East Course on Sunday, April 28, as both fired a team-low 95.
 
McGee finished the tournament with a two-day 184 to finish in a tie for 36th while Koch notched an opening-round 96 to go with a 95 on Sunday to finish 45th.
 
In between the two, sophomore Will Dietz (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield Area) finished in a tie for 38th with a two-day total of 185 and junior Zack Czap (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) finished tied for 40th at 187. Rounding out the Warriors’ lineup, senior Drew Tompkins (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) finished tied for 47th with a two-day total of 198.
 
Stevenson won the conference title, firing a two-day total of 618, to finish ahead of Messiah by 18 strokes. Lycoming, which shot a first day 363 before posting a 384 on day two, finished just five strokes behind Widener, which finished eighth at 742. The Warriors finished ahead of Hood, which took 10th after posting a two-day total of 769.
