HERSHEY, Pa. – Sophomores
Will Dietz (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield) and
Nic McGee (Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) are both in the top 30 to lead the Lycoming College golf team after the first day at the Commonwealth Conference Golf Championship at the par-71, 7,061-yard Hershey Country Club East Course on Saturday, April 27. The Warriors are eighth in a field of 10 teams after a first-round 363, while Stevenson leads the pack after a first round of 309.
The Warriors are ahead of Widener (363) and Hood (378), while Stevenson holds a three-stroke lead over Messiah (312), who is in second place. Matt Burkhart leads the field with a 1-over-par 72, three strokes ahead of second-place Ben Lukehart of Stevenson.
Dietz leads the Warriors, shooting a first round 88 to sit in a tie for 28
th. McGee is right behind him after shooting an 89 to sit 30
th and junior
Zack Czap (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) is also in the mix for the team’s top finisher after shooting a first-round 90 to finish the day tied for 34
th.
Sophomore
John Koch (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) and senior
Drew Tompkins (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) are tied for 45
th after shooting 96 in the first round.
The Warriors wrap up the two-day championship on Sunday, April 28, when they tee off on the 10
th hole at Hershey Country Club’s East Course’s 10
th hole at 8 a.m.
