HUMMELS WHARF, Pa. – Senior
Drew Tompkins (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) and sophomore
Will Dietz (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield Area) each posted top 25 finishes to lead the Lycoming College golf team at the Susquehanna University Spring Invitational at Susquehanna Valley Country Club on a windy, overcast Friday, April 19.
Tompkins finished in a tie for 21
st, shooting an 88 on the par-71, 5,994-yard course. He finished 10 strokes behind the event’s medallists – Susquehanna’s Ryan Bruvik, Anthony Canarie and Dylan Gladd. Dietz was tight behind in a tie for 25
th with a score of 90.
The Warriors finished sixth out of seven teams, with sophomore
John Koch (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) posting a 96 to finish 30
th and junior
Zack Czap (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) took 31
st with a 97.
Senior
Caleb Shertzer (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) rounded out Lycoming’s golfers, as he posted a career-best 102.
The Warriors will now have eight days to get set for the Commonwealth Conference Championship at the Hershey Country Club East Course, which is set to begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 27.
