Zack Czap (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) fired a career-low 84 and senior
Drew Tompkins (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) fired a career-best 18-hole tournament score of 90 to lead the Lycoming College golf team during a blustery round at the par-72, 6,361-yard Lebanon Country Club for its season-opening tournament, the Lebanon Valley College Spring Invitational, on Monday, April 1.
Czap, who had only fired one round below 90 in his career, finished in a tie for 28
th, as he posted a 41 on the front nine before firing a 43 on the back nine to lead the Warriors, who finished 17
th with a team score of 372.
Tompkins posted a round of 90 to finish 60
th. It was the best 18-hole round for the senior since firing an 86 during the two-day MAC Championships as a freshman in 2010.
Rounding out the Warriors’ lineup, sophomore
Nic McGee (Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) fired a 98, sophomore
John Koch (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) shot a 100 and senior
Nate Jones (Sayre, Pa./Athens Area) shot a 113.
The Warriors make a quick turnaround, getting back on the course on Thursday, April 4, at the Elizabethtown Spring Blue Jay Classic at Hershey Country Club’s East Course. The shotgun start is set for 12 p.m.
