WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Three Lycoming College women’s lacrosse players finished with hat tricks, including senior Brooke Strausser (Myerstown, Pa./Conrad Weiser Area), who became the ninth player in school history to post 100 career goals, but a free-position goal with 12 seconds left helped lift King’s to a 15-14 win over Lycoming in non-conference action at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Friday afternoon, March 1.
 
The late goal spoiled a rally that helped Lycoming (0-2 overall) tie the game with 3:11 on the clock after falling behind, 14-12. Freshman Savannah Fox (Port Deposit, Md./Perryville) got the Warriors within one by finding the upper the left corner with 4:01 left. After Lycoming won the draw, freshman Elizabeth Seitzinger (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) scored on a give by Fox with 3:11 left.
 
Lycoming had chances to take the lead in the final three minutes, but a turnover with 50 seconds left gave King’s (2-0 overall) the ball. The Monarchs had two free-position opportunities, getting stopped on the first before Amanda Harney scored on the second with 12 seconds left. The Warriors won the final draw, but couldn’t get a shot off before time expired.
 
The Warriors jumped out to a 5-1 lead midway through the first half, as Strausser scored her 100^th goal of the game on a nifty move in front of the net. King’s responded, though, scoring four goals to tie it with 3:43 left in the half. Junior Sarah Quigley (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) kept Lycoming in control, though, scoring with 2:14 left and then after a King’s goal, she gave Lycoming a 7-6 lead at the break with a score with 37 seconds left.
 
The Warriors started the second half on a 3-1 run to take a 10-7 lead through the first 10 minutes. King’s drew within one, but free-position scores from junior Maureen Heagy (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) and Seitzinger helped Lycoming regain the three-goal lead with 16:57 left.
 
King’s, however, scored the next five goals, with a free-position goal from Harney with 5:48 left, giving the Monarchs a 14-12 lead and setting up Lycoming’s comeback.
 
Fox and Heagy led the Warriors with three goals and an assist. Strausser added three scores, 10 groundballs and four draw controls. Seitzinger posted two goals and five draw controls and Quigley also added two goals. Junior Amber Graybill (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) added five groundballs and two draw controls and senior Hope Pappas (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) notched four caused turnovers.
 
Mariah Masciarelli led the Monarchs with six goals and two assists and Harney posted five goals. Chelsea Manes notched two goals, an assist, seven groundballs and four caused turnovers.
 
In net, senior Lauren Reitnouer (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) notched a career-high 10 saves for the Warriors. Alisa Marino also stopped 10 shots for the Warriors.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Friday, March 8, when they head to FDU-Florham for a 4 p.m. contest.
