Woods’ big day leads Warriors at Misericordia

DALLAS, Pa. – Junior Dan Woods (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) won both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly to lead the Lycoming College men's swimming team on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 17, at Misericordia University, but Misericordia was able to post a 143-114 win. In the women's meet, Misericordia posted a 174-85 win.
 
Woods notched a time of 23.09 to take the 50-yard freestyle and added a time of 54.31 to win the 100-yard butterfly before also helping the 200-yard freestyle relay to a win in 1:31.53 in the meet's final event. Senior Zack Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North), sophomore Dan Apostolu (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and senior Luke Dohrman (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) kicked off the relay before Woods finished it off, helping the Warriors (1-3 overall, 1-3 MAC) to a two-second win over the Cougars (3-2 overall, 3-0 MAC).
 
Sophomore Josh Thomas (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) also notched a win in the 200-yard butterfly, posting a time of 2:04.43.
 
The women were led by juniors BethAnn Schwoyer (Williamsport, Pa./Homeschooled) and Lexi Follweiler (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley), who each notched event wins.
 
Schwoyer posted a time of 2:20.22 to take the 200-yard backstroke while sophomore Felicia Sloyer (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) posted a time of 2:21.23 to finish second in the race. Follweiler posted a time of 2:21.79 to take the 200-yard butterfly.
 
The Warriors get back in the pool on Friday, Nov. 22, as they head to the Swarthmore Invitational. The two-day event begins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday before concluding on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 9:30 a.m.
