ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore
Danielle Loiseau (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) won three individual events to lead the Lycoming College women’s swim team and a pair of freshmen combined to win four events for the men’s swim team as the Warriors swept Lebanon Valley College in Middle Atlantic Conference action on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 12. The women posted a 122-76 victory and the men notched a 119-72 win.
Loiseau paced the women, posting wins in the 200-meter freestyle (2:18.25), 100-meter freestyle (1:05.02) and 400-meter freestyle (5:06.40), as the team improved to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the MAC.
The Warriors won nine of the 11 events, starting with the 200-meter medley relay, where sophomore
BethAnn Schwoyer (Williamsport, Pa./Homeschooled, freshman
Jilly Flynn (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional), sophomore
Lexi Follweiler (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) and senior
Elisa Becker (Reston, Va./South Lakes) posted a time of 2:10.98.
Freshman
Hannah Bischoff (Germantown, Md./Northwest) followed with a win in the 800-meter freestyle, posting a time of 10:37.97 before Loiseau won her first race. Flynn added wins in both the 200-meter individual medley (2:44.48) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:23.18). Follweiler posted a win in the 100-yard butterfly (1:11.93) and Schwoyer won the 100-meter backstroke (1:10.52).
On the men’s side, freshmen
Dan Apostolu (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and
Trevor Endler (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) each posted a pair of wins to pace the Warriors, who won all 11 races during the meet and finished 1-2 in eight of the nine individual events, helping them improve to 5-1 overall.
Apostolu posted wins in the 200-meter freestyle (2:10.33) and the 100-meter freestyle (56.60) and Endler posted wins in the 200-meter individual medley (2:27.45) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:13.78).
Sophomore
Daniel Woods (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) also posted two wins, notching a time of 1:00.03 to take the 100-meter butterfly and 1:08.17 to win the 100-meter backstroke.
Junior
Jack Port (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) posted a time of 9:49.22 to win the 800-meter freestyle, senior
Nate Oropollo (Aldan, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) notched a time of 24.65 to win the 50-yard freestyle and sophomore
T.J. Guminski (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) posted a time of 4:45.36 to win the 400-meter freestyle.
Guminski, Endler, Woods and Oropollo notched a time of 1:56.32 to win the 200-meter medley relay and the grouping of junior
Ben Sainvilier (Silver Spring, Md./Heights School), junior
C.J. Arhontakis (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove), Apostolu and junior
Zack Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) notched a time of 1:44.11 to win the 200-meter freestyle relay to cap the meet.
LVC’s men fell to 3-5 and the women dropped to 3-5 as well.
The Warriors continue their weekend on the road, heading to Wilkes-Barre’s Catholic Youth Center for a double-dual meet with King’s and FDU-Florham on Sunday, Jan. 13, at 12 p.m.
