WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – An overtime tally by Josh Wollaston helped Alvernia University sneak past the Lycoming College men’s soccer team, 1-0, in the Commonwealth Conference opener for both teams on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
 
The Warriors (3-4-1 overall, 0-1 Commonwealth) took nine shots in the match and forced Alvernia keeper Ben Diller to make four stops, but it was the Crusaders (6-2-3 overall, 1-0 Commonwealth) that finally dented the scoreboard in the 96^th minute. After already forcing Lycoming to make two saves in the overtime frame, Kyle Marytyn found Wollaston in front of the Lycoming defense and Wollaston slipped a shot just past the outstretched arms of the Lycoming goalkeeper.
 
Senior James Quinn (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) made seven saves in net for the Warriors.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Albright for a Commonwealth Conference match. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
