WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior
Leslie Kester (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) scored a first-half goal for the Lycoming College women’s soccer team, but FDU-Florham’s Claire Donohue scored three goals and added two assists to lead the Devils to a 6-1 non-conference win at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
Kester scored a beautiful goal to tie the game at one in the 22
nd minute, when she gathered in a deflection and fired a shot high into the left-center of the net. However, the Devils (2-8 overall) added three more goals before the half and Donohue scored two goals in the second half to wrap up a hat trick.
The Warriors (1-6-2 overall) had several solid scoring opportunities, as their transition game created some good offense, including seven shots and two corner kicks, but it also led to three offsides calls.
Senior
Jennifer Basch (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) became the eighth keeper in school history to reach 100 career saves, as she scooped seven in the game to finish the day with 100 in her career for the Warriors.
Anna Bandly earned the win for the Devils, making two stops and Julia Perry added one save in the final 18 minutes. Besides Donohue, Michelle Hickey, Jennifer DiGioia and Gabby Lopez also scored for the Devils.
The Warriors open the Commonwealth Conference slate on Saturday, Sept. 29, when they host Alvernia at 11 a.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
