WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A perennial national contender, the University of Rochester posted two first-half goals to help lift itself to a 4-1 win over the Lycoming College men’s soccer team on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 22, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
Down 3-0 midway through the second half, the Warriors (3-3-1 overall) got on the board in the 72
nd minute when freshman
Nick Neverman (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) scored his second goal of the season, lofting a high shot into the upper part of the net from 15 yards out.
Rochester (5-2 overall) added a goal in the 78
th minute to round out the scoring.
Senior
James Quinn (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) stopped two shots in the first half before yielding to sophomore
Connor Keenan (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East), who stopped three shots in the second half. Senior
Will Reiber (Crofton, Md./South River) headed a ball off the goal line in the second half for a defensive save as well.
Scott Garfing made one save in 79 minutes and Mike Moranz finished the game in net for the Yellowjackets, who saw six shots from the Warriors.
The Warriors now have a week to get ready for the nine-game Commonwealth Conference schedule, which will begin on Saturday, Sept. 29, when they face Alvernia at 1:30 p.m. in a Family Weekend tilt.
