HUNTINGDON, Pa. – A two-goal second-half outburst within two minutes of each other helped lift the Lycoming College men’s soccer team to a 2-0 win over rival Juniata on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Winton Hill Field. It was Lycoming’s first win in Huntingdon since a 2-0 win in 2008.
The Eagles (5-3 overall) took six shots and held the Warriors (3-2-1 overall) to three in the first half, but the Warriors turned around the pressure in the second half, taking eight shots and holding the Eagles to four.
Senior
Will Reiber (Crofton, Md./South River) got the Warriors on the board in the 79
th minute, converting a penalty kick and freshman
Kyle Smith (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) was credited for his first career goal in the 81
st minute. Juniata fired two shots in the waning nine minutes, but neither were on net, helping the Warriors clinch the shutout win.
Sophomore
Connor Keenan (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) earned the shutout in net, making two saves for Lycoming. Ezra Cassel stopped four shots for Juniata.
The Warriors head back to the Shangraw Athletic Complex where they will host Rochester, the 26
th team in the D3soccer.com national poll, on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m.
