BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Senior
Charlie Vess (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) scored his third goal in two games for the Lycoming College men’s soccer team, but a second-half goal by Geneva forced overtime, as Lycoming left the Merriman Complex with a 1-1 tie in non-conference action on Saturday night, Sept. 15.
Lycoming (2-1-1 overall) got on the board in the first half as Vess dented the twine for the fourth time this season.
However, Geneva (3-3-1 overall) kept the pressure on, taking five corners in the second half and finally capitalizing in the 77
th minute on a score from Daniel Cox.
Geneva outshot the Warriors, 16-10, and held an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks, but senior
James Quinn (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) stopped five shots to keep the Warriors’ tied. Bryan Butler stopped three shots for the Golden Tornadoes.
The Warriors will now get set for a big showdown with No. 19 York (Pa.) on Monday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
