Warriors fall to defending champions Albright in season opener

READING, Pa. –
Sophomore T.J. Guminski (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) kicked off the season with wins in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke to lead the Lycoming College swim teams on Saturday, Oct. 27 against defending Middle Atlantic Conference champions, Albright, but the Warriors fell, 146-108, on the men’s side and 155-84 on the women’s.
 
The Warrior men and women each fell to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the MAC and Albright’s men and women each improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the MAC.
 
Guminski got off to a solid start, posting a time of 1:03.85 to win the 100-yard breaststroke and then posted a 2:22.26 to win the 200.
 
In addition, the Warriors finished 1-2 in the 100-yard butterfly, as freshman Kyle Garase (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) kicked off his career with a blazing 53.20 to win the race while sophomore Daniel Woods (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) added a time of 54.37.
 
Freshman Josh Thomas (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) finished second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.23.
 
Sophomore Brigid Clark (Wyndmoor, Pa./Springfield) led the women’s team, taking second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:09.93, and senior Elisa Becker (Reston, Va./South Lakes) added a third-place finish in 2:12.94.
 
The Warriors get back in the water on Saturday, Nov. 3, when they host Hood at 2 p.m. in a MAC meet at Lamade Gym Natatorium.
