ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore
Sam Stropko (Sayre, Pa./Athens Area) notched 19 saves, the most for the Lycoming College women’s soccer team since 2002, but the Warriors fell, 5-0, to Elizabethtown in Commonwealth Conference action on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 24.
Stropko finished with a career high in saves, marking the most stops in a game for the Warriors (1-13-3 overall, 0-7-1 Commonwealth) since Angela Brewington made 19 stops against Lebanon Valley on Sept. 28, 2002.
Elizabethtown (9-3-5 overall, 5-1-2 Commonwealth) took 46 shots in the game and five different players scored. Kaceyanne Cerankowski got the Blue Jays on the board in the fourth minute and they took a 2-0 lead into halftime before scoring three in the second half.
Jess Manchak and Dana Robidoux combined on the shutout in net for Elizabethtown.
The Warriors wrap up the 2012 campaign on Saturday, Oct. 27, when they head to Hood for an 11:30 a.m. Commonwealth Conference match.
