Warriors fall to No. 2 Falcons

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team fell to second-ranked Messiah College, 8-0, in Commonwealth Conference action on Tuesday night, Oct. 16, at Shoemaker Field.
 
The Falcons (13-1-1 overall, 6-0 Commonwealth) scored seven first half goals, with Alex Brandt posting two goals and two assists and Rachel Scheibeler adding two more goals in the half. The Warriors fell to 1-11-3 overall and 0-4-1 Commonwealth.
 
Lycoming goalkeeper Sam Stropko (Sayre, Pa./Athens Area) finished with six saves in 65 minutes before she yielded to senior Jennifer Basch (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove), who played the final 25 minutes. Audra Larson earned the shutout for the Falcons.
 
The Warriors wrap up their home slate on Saturday, Oct. 20, with Senior Day against Commonwealth Conference foe Arcadia at 2:30 p.m. Lycoming will honor seniors Chelsey Lindaberry (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional), Rebeccah Bizon (Brookline, Vt./Leland & Gray Union), Leslie Kester (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) and Jennifer Basch (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) in a brief ceremony before the game.
