WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team made 10 saves in the game, but a three-goal outburst in three minutes helped lift Stevenson University to a 4-0 Commonwealth Conference win at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Saturday, Oct. 13.
The Warriors (1-10-3 overall, 0-4-1 Commonwealth) withstood 13 first-half shots from the Mustangs (9-4-1 overall, 3-1-1 Commonwealth), as sophomore goalkeeper
Sam Stropko (Sayre, Pa./Athens) made four saves in the period to help leave the game scoreless.
In the 58
th minute, though, Allie Ondrejcak got the Mustangs on the board with a shot into the lower left corner and 62 seconds later, Shannon McGuire scored the first of her two goals with a shot into the upper left. Catherine Madden wrapped up the three goal run in the 60
th minute with a shot into the left corner. McGuire rounded out the scoring with a goal in the 81
st minute.
Lycoming took two shots in the game as Allison Johnson posted the shutout for Stevenson. Stropko finished with nine stops for the Warriors. Senior
Rebeccah Bizon (Brookline, Vt./Leland & Gray Union) also made a defensive stop.
The Warriors get back on the field on Tuesday, Oct. 16, when they head to No. 2 Messiah for a 7 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game.
