Women’s swimmers wrap up 11th straight winning season as Warriors sweep Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. –
With four sweeps in the last eight days, the Lycoming College swim teams will head into a three-week break before the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships flying high, as the Warriors wrapped up their regular-season with a sweep of Arcadia on Saturday, Jan. 21, as the men won 159-66 and the women won 138-111.
 
The women’s team finished its dual meet season with a 6-4 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the MAC, their 11th straight winning season, all under head coach Jerry Hammaker, as freshman Lexi Follweiler (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) led the team with three individual wins.
 
Follweiler posted wins in the 200-yard butterfly (2:27.14), the 100-yard freestyle (58.70) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.68), as the rookie posted a season-best time in the freestyle event.
 
Fellow freshmen Brigid Clark (Wyndmoor, Pa./Springfield) and Danielle Loiseau (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) added a pair of wins each, as Clark notched a time of 1:04.21 to take the 100-yard backstroke and a time of 26.78 to win the 50-yard freestyle. Loiseau posted a time of 1:17.71 to win the 100-yard breaststroke and added a time of 2:22.66 to take the 200-yard individual medley.
 
Sophomore Jennie Marosits (Mt. Lakes, N.J./Mt. Lakes) added a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:50.84.
 
The 200-yard medley team of freshmen BethAnn Schwoyer (Williamsport, Pa./Homeschooled), Loiseau, Follweiler, and Taylor Berry (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) led off the meet with a time of 2:00.68 to take the race. The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Marosits, junior Elisa Becker (Reston, Va./South Lakes), Schwoyer and Clark posted a time of 8:21.41 for the win.
 
Whitney Boeckel led the Knights (5-6 overall, 0-5 MAC) with three individual wins.
 
The men’s team finished its campaign used 11 race wins to cruise to a 159-66 win to finish the regular season with a 6-3 record and a 6-2 mark in conference meets, posting their 11th-straight non-losing campaign.
 
Senior Joe Andrie (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley), swimming in his final dual meet, finished with wins in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.65) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:13.96). Sophomore Zack Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) posted wins in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.38) and the 100-yard freestyle (a season-best 51.69).
 
Freshman Daniel Woods (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) notched wins in the 100-yard backstroke (57.24) and the 100-yard butterfly (54.48).
 
Sophomore C.J. Arhontakis (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) added a win in the 50-yard freestyle (23.00), sophomore Jack Port (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) won the 200-yard backstroke (2:15.26) and freshman T.J. Guminski (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) notched a win in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.55).
 
In the relays, the team of Port, Andrie, Woods and Brower notched a time of 1:45.32 to take the 200-yard medley relay and the team of senior Myles Biggs (Easton, Pa./Easton Area), Guminski, senior Derek Lupia (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) and Brower won the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:06.62.
 
The Warriors will close out their season after a three-week break at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships from Feb. 10-12 at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center. The meet begins on Friday, Feb. 10 at 12 p.m.
