WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman goalkeeper
Sam Stropko (Sayre, Pa./Athens) made 12 saves in net and the Lycoming College women’s soccer team fired 11 shots in the contest, but Susquehanna scored two goals in each half to post a 4-0 win in the fifth annual River Derby at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on a sunny Tuesday, Sept. 20.
Stropko reached double figures in stops for the second time this year, notching six saves in each period for the Warriors (1-5 overall).
The Crusaders (4-2 overall) got two goals in the first half from Kate Wiley while Marissa DeParto added a goal and an assist in the second half. Susquehanna fired 29 shots in the game.
Rachel Norbus made three saves in 67 minutes in net before yielding to Cameron Weaver for the Crusaders.
Lycoming was led by four shots from senior Jussae Hanford (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) and two each from senior Kelly Prendergast (Edison, N.J./Rutgers Prep), junior Leslie Kester (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) and senior Jenna Moyer (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg Area).
The Warriors will next take a trip to FDU-Florham for a 2:30 p.m. contest on Saturday, Sept. 24.
