WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
Freshman Daniel Woods (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) broke an eight-year old school record in the 100-yard butterfly, notching a time of 53.29, to lead the Lycoming College swimming teams on Saturday, Dec. 10, in a dual meet with Albright at the Lamade Gym Natatorium. However, perennial Middle Atlantic Conference power Albright was able to post a 149-113 win on the men’s side and a 160-99 on the women’s side.

Woods’ time of 53.29 was good for a win by more than a second and helped him smash the previous record of 54.03 set by Nate DeCapria in 2003. He also added a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.63.

Woods also kicked off the meet by helping the Warriors (2-3 overall, 2-2 MAC) to a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as he swam the opening led before combining with senior Joe Andrie (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley), freshman T.J. Guminski (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and freshman Sean Marshall (Waverly, N.Y./Athens (Pa.)) for a time of 1:41.54.

Andrie also posted wins in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke, as he notched a time of 1:03.15 in the 100 and 2:20.42 in the 200.

Sophomore Zack Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) added a win in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.56 and the Warriors capped the event with a win in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:29.72 for the team of sophomore C.J. Arhontakis (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove), Marshall, Brower and Woods.

On the women’s side, the Warriors (2-4 overall, 1-3 MAC) posted a pair of individual wins, as freshman Danielle Loiseau (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) posted a time of 2:18.05 in the 200-yard butterfly and freshman BethAnn Schwoyer (Williamsport, Pa./Homeschooled) added a time of 2:15.90 in the 200-yard backstroke.

The Warriors get back in the pool after the holiday break when they host MAC foe Lebanon Valley on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 1 p.m. The meet will also serve as Senior Day for the Warriors, who will honor the program’s five seniors during the event.
