Warrior swimmers fall at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. –
Freshman Daniel Woods (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) led the Lycoming College swim teams in their season-opening dual meet at Ursinus College on Saturday, Nov. 5, finishing first in the 100-yard butterfly and second in the 50-yard freestyle, but the Warriors fell to the Bears, 115-87 on the men’s side and 110-92 on the women’s side.
 
Woods finished in 55.60 to take the butterfly event and added a time of 22.73 in the 50-yard free, as he fell by just .09 seconds in the race.
 
Senior Myles Biggs (Easton, Pa./Easton) took second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:05.83 and sophomore Jack Port (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) took third in the event in 11:19.26. The Warriors also took second to fourth in the 200-yard individual medley, with freshman T.J. Guminski (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) posting a time of 2:10.70, just .14 behind the race winner. Senior Joe Andrie (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) notched a 2:10.97 and sophomore Peter Fields (Burke, Va./Robinson) took fourth at 2:14.23.
 
Sophomore Zack Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) took second in the 100-yard freestyle in 52.00 and Biggs added another second-place finish in the 500-yard free in 5:21.74. Andrie took second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.00.
 
The women started out strong with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as freshman BethAnn Schwoyer (Williamsport, Pa./Homeschooled), freshman Lexi Follweiler (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley), freshman Taylor Berry (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) and freshman Brigid Clark (Wyndmoor, Pa./Springfield) posted a time of 1:58.75 to win by just less than a second against Ursinus.
 
Sophomore Jennie Marosits (Mt. Lakes, N.J./Mt. Lakes) took second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:42.97 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:42.04.  Freshman Danielle Loiseau (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) impressed in the 200-yard individual medley with a second-place finish in 2:21.98 and she added a second-place showing the 100-yard butterfly at 1:02.56. Follweiler came in third in the 200-yard IM at 2:26.62.
 
Clark added a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at 56.36 and Schwoyer fell .01 seconds from a win in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:03.31.
 
The Warriors get back in the pool when they open up their home slate on Saturday, Nov. 12 by facing Middle Atlantic Conference foes Elizabethtown and Messiah in a double dual at 1 p.m. in the Lamade Gym Natatorium.
