Matt Snively (Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown) found the back of the net in the 81
st minute to break a scoreless tie and help lead the Lycoming College men’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over Widener University in front of a large crowd on the big stage of the home of the MLS’ Philadelphia Union, PPL Park, on Friday night, Oct. 7.
Snively posted his fourth goal of the season on an unassisted tally and the Warriors’ first shot in 20 minutes to give the team the lead. Meanwhile, the Lycoming defense shut down the Pride (3-7-2 overall, 0-2 Commonwealth) the rest of the way, allowing no shots in the final nine minutes.
The Warriors (7-5-1 overall, 1-1 Commonwealth) benefited from the first career shutout from freshman
Connor Keenan (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East), who stopped three shots in the win. The Pride took 11 shots in the game.
Dan Price also made three stops for the Pride, as the Warriors fired off nine shots in the contest.
The Warriors get back on the field on Tuesday, Oct. 11, when they face No. 1 Messiah in a Commonwealth Conference matchup at the Shangraw Athletic Complex at 3:30 p.m.
