Warriors charge out to lead to down Chargers, 2-1

LANCASTER, Pa. –
With a goal in both the first and second half, the Lycoming College men’s soccer team built a lead against Lancaster Bible in non-conference action on Tuesday, Oct. 4, and was able to hold on in the last 15 minutes for a 2-1 win.
 
In the first half, the Warriors (6-5-1 overall) peppered the Chargers (3-7-1 overall) with 10 shots and sophomore Matt Snively (Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown) scored his third goal of the year by getting a give from freshman Adam Kuntz (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to give the Warriors the lead in the 21st minute.
 
Seven minutes into the second half, junior Mike Krebs (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) scored his first goal of the season on a header over the keeper on a dish from freshman Chris Hale (Woodbine, Md./Century), who received his first career point for the assist.
 
The Chargers got on the board in the 76th minute on a header by Jesse Fraser, but the Warriors were able to keep the Chargers off the board in the final 14 minutes to secure the win.
 
Freshman Connor Keenan (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) posted two saves to earn his first career win for the Warriors and Jarrod Bergey stopped four shots for the Chargers.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Friday, Oct. 7 when they face Widener at the home of the MLS’ Philadelphia Union, PPL Park, at 8 p.m.
