Warriors fall to top-ranked Falcons

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
The Lycoming College women’s soccer team fell to top-ranked Messiah College, 6-0, in Commonwealth Conference action on a rainy Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
 
Alex Brandt, Erin Hench and Mackenzie Clapper each scored once in each half for the Falcons (11-0-1 overall, 3-0 Commonwealth), as the Falcons posted 30 shots in the game.
 
The Warriors (2-9 overall, 0-3 Commonwealth) did have a few one-on-one chances in the second half thanks to better ball movement, but the Falcons’ defense stood tall each time. Senior Jussae Hanford (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) led the Warriors with three shots.
 
Junior Jennifer Basch (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) made two saves in the first half before yielding to freshman Sam Stropko (Athens, Pa./Sayre), who made seven saves in 68 minutes.
 
Autumn Reilly posted two saves to earn the shutout for the Falcons.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday when they head to Arcadia for a 12 p.m. match on Saturday, Oct. 15.
